The olympic torch comes to Bowness next year June 21st 2012.

A unique and extraordinary event has been scheduled as Bowness has been named as part of the olympic build up celebrations.

The event, which will be staged on the glebe, will showcase a series of live performances, and festivities. The day will finish with a staged ceremony where the Olympic flame will light a special cauldron.

Windermere Air Festival 2012

The 12th Windermere Air Festival will be held in July 2012. The exact dates are yet to be comfirmed so please watch this space for further confirmation.

Building upon the success of the 2011 show which included appearances from the Vulcan bomber and Red Arrows against the idealic background of the Lake District, this event promises to be sensational fun for Aeronautical enthusiasts and party-goers alike..

Windermere - one of the most picturesque lakes in the UK - will again stage the British Gas Great North Swim in 2012.

The 2011 event became biggest swimming event ever to be staged in Britain with 10,000 participants.

The event was held across three days with 1/2 mile, 1 mile and 2 mile swims.
