Bowness-on-Windermere is the ideal base for a holiday in the Lake District, with easy access to the rest of Lakeland.

The steamer from Bowness takes you north to Ambleside or south to Lakeside and the Haverthwaite Steam Railway.  There is also the car ferry across the lake for a quiet walk or drive to Hawkshead, home of Beatrix Potter, Coniston and beyond. 

By car or public transport you can explore this unique corner of England, from its tranquil lakes and tarns to its magnificent mountains.  We are happy to book a tour for you with one of the local minibus companies, sometimes with discounted rates during the winter months.
